World's Greatest Cemeteries

World's Greatest Cemeteries

While you might not suspect it, many cemeteries are masterpieces of landscape, culture and history. So much more than burial spaces, they're monuments to stories that tell us who we were, why we're here, and what we can be. WORLD'S GREATEST CEMETERIES highlights these hidden gems in a magazine-style half-hour that uses actors, forensic scientists, historians and even horticulturists to share true stories of romance, war, espionage and intrigue. Each episode includes a thoughtful visual exploration of one of the world's greatest cemeteries, along with dramatized re-enactments of pivotal moments in the life of a historical individual buried at the site. Tours focus on landscape design, gardens, trees, statuary and more. The program includes interviews and commentary from historians, authors and other experts who help contextualize history, funerary monuments and symbols. Hosted by producer Roberto Mighty, season one tours include some of the most breathtaking burial grounds in the world, such as Pere-Lachaise in France, Highgate Cemetery in London, Mount Auburn Cemetery in Massachusetts, Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, Forest Lawn Memorial in Hollywood, and the Okunoin cemetery near Osaka, Japan.
