Indigenous Athletes Changing The Game

17-year-old runner Ku Stevens reenacted his great grandfather's escape from Stewart Indian School in Nevada. ICT's Kaitlin Onawa Boysel shares his story. Billy Mills remains the only American to win the Olympic gold medal in the 10,000 meter race. We'll hear ICT anchor Mark Trahant interviewing Mills on what it means to hold this title for nearly 60 years. A lot of people spend Sunday watching professional football. It's a chance to root for a favorite team but there is a history that's worth remembering. ICT's Kaitlin Onawa Boysel tells us about the Indigenous angle to the sport's creation. Professional fighter Shannon Ritch, Choctaw, won his retirement headlining fight. Also in the octogan is Deran Martinez, Gila River, who took home the Indigenous belt during the pay-per-view event. ICT's Carina Dominguez reports. Thank you for watching!
