DIRK GENTLY is based on the cult novel 'Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency' by Douglas Adams ('Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'). It stars Stephen Mangan (Green Wings, Showtime's Episodes) as an eccentric private detective with a completely unique take on the world. Gently believes in the fundamental interconnectedness of all things and applies this philosophy to his investigations into everyday mysteries. Perpetually broke, hopelessly impulsive, socially inept and utterly infuriating, most people suspect Dirk is nothing more than a cheap con-man. Nevertheless, his methods, though unusual, do often produce surprising results. Darren Boyd (Little Dorrit) and Helen Baxendale (Cold Feet; Friends) also star in this intelligent and wonderfully written comedy drama series.
